Gloria J. Boldt

April 19, 1946 — February 3, 2015

Gloria J. Boldt, 68, of Red Wing, died Tuesday, February 3, 2015, at her home, surrounded by the love of her family, after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born April 19, 1946, in Red Wing, to William and Frances (Jablonske) Siewert. She graduated from RW Central High and attended St. Cloud State University. On August 28th, 1965, she was married to Roger Boldt and they lived in St. Paul, MN before moving home to Red Wing.
Gloria was a homemaker until her children were all in school then she worked many years at Red Wing Pottery Sales, NSP Nuclear Plant as a security guard and most recent, she worked at the Goodhue County ADC as a Detention deputy until retirement in 2014.

Gloria was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and was one of the founding members of the Mississippi Shuffle, American Cancer Society Relay for Life, here locally, which was such an annual pride and joy to her. Gloria was a 30+ year volunteer for the Red Wing Hospice, she also volunteered for years at the TB Sheldon, was a Sunday school teacher, Girl Scout Leader (many years for the Vasa Lutheran Children's Home) and Little League coach. Gloria was also a member of the Woman's Study Club, Sons of Norway, the 14th Armored Division Auxiliary, Leo C. Peterson American Legion and Burnson-Lillyblad VFW Auxiliaries, Red Hat Society of Ellsworth and Social Singles.

She was an avid traveler to her father's WWII reunions all around the US, and took annual trips to Cranberry Fest and to Chicago, but one of her favorite travels was her annual trip to Las Vegas with her mother, sister and dear friends. Gloria was also an avid shopper, volunteer and enjoyed gardening flowers and vegetables but most of all she loved watching the Mississippi flow by with her children and grandchildren at the family cabin. She had a great passion decorating for the holidays and anyone who knew Gloria knew what the holidays meant to her, the decorating didn't end at home, she shared that passion at her work for all to enjoy. Gloria's pride and joy were her grandchildren and she was their faithful, number one fan--always on the sidelines and in the bleachers for each of their sporting events. Gloria also helped produce two cookbooks, St. Paul's Lutheran Church Original Cookbook and the Goodhue County Crook Book.

Survivors include her three children, Wade (Sheryle) Boldt of Red Wing, Scott (Mandi) Boldt of Mazeppa and Monica (William) Root of Red Wing, thirteen grandchildren, K.C. and Josie Boldt, Brady, Kaylie & Misty Boldt, Mariah and Chenoa Vagt, Bruce Warnke, Kayson Morseth, Madison and Kaden Erie and Mason and Nelson Root; 1 great-granddaughter, Arura Boldt; 1 sister, Gayle Siewert of Red Wing,1 brother Glenn (Anne) Siewert of Hager City, Brother-in-law, Richard (Marilyn) Boldt of Cook, MN, a niece, Ashley(William) Siewert and many cousins.
