Glennis J. Gordon, age 85, of Zumbrota passed away on Friday, October 7, 2016 unexpectedly at her residence. A memorial service will be Thursday, October 13, 2016 at 11:00 A.M at Emmanuel Lutheran Church - Aspelund in rural Wanamingo with Pastor Martin Horn officiating. A visitation on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at Mahn Family Funeral Home - Larson Chapel from 4:00 P.M to 7:00 P.M and for one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial in the Zumbrota Cemetery.
Glennis Janith Thompson was born on June 10, 1931 in Zumbrota to Glen and Mildred (Pearson) Thompson. She grew up in the Hader area and graduated from Wanamingo High School in 1946. Glennis married Dean Gordon on October 6, 1948. During this time they helped out several farmers in the Hader area. In 1950 they moved to Zumbrota and started their family. Glennis taught piano, organ and voice lessons out of the home and played for several churches including Emmanuel Lutheran, United Redeemer and Peace United Church in Rochester under Carl Schroedel.
Glennis enjoyed gardening, cooking and spending time with her family.
Glennis is survived by two children, Larry Gordon of Zumbrota and Paulette Gordon of Roseville, CA.; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and one sister, Virginia (Gene) Clark of Hastings.
Glennis was preceded in death by her husband, Dean; an infant son; and her brother, Melroy Thompson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the family.
