Glen Homer Bjorklund

Glen Homer Bjorklund, 96, of Red Wing, died Sunday, May 27, 2012 at his home at Potter Ridge. He was born on May 6, 1916 in Minneapolis to Carl and Cornelia (Noleen) Bjorklund. He graduated from Red Wing Central High School in 1934 and then served in the US Army during World War II from 1942-1946. Following his discharge he attended Dunwoody Institute. On October 18, 1947, he married Marian Swanson at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. They lived on the Swanson farm in Welch Township and he worked for many years at Pine Bend Refinery, retiring in 1979. He was a lifelong member of Cross of Christ Lutheran Church and was also a member of the Golden K's.

He is survived by his wife, Marian of Red Wing; four children, Becky (Bill) Buchanan of Augusta, Georgia, Sandy (Steve) Anderson of Golden Valley, Leanne (Reg) Sikkink of Lake City and Duke (Kathy) Bjorklund of Welch; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and one brother, Paul Bjorklund of Red Wing. He was preceded in death by one brother, Roland; one sister, Hazel Anderson; and one granddaughter, Tara Anderson.

Memorial service will be 3 p.m. Thursday, May 31, 2012 at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church of Welch. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and at the church for one hour prior to the service.
