Gladys Esther Cox, age 80, of Red Wing, died Sunday, July 15, 2007, at St. Brigid's at Hi Park in Red Wing. She was born on September 23, 1926, in Buffalo City, Wisconsin, to Fred and Dorothy (Porter) Heuer. She attended rural Buffalo City rural school and Plainview High School. She received her nursing assistant degree. On October 6, 1944, she married Ralph Cox in Plainview, where they farmed for eight years. They lived in Lake City prior to moving to Red Wing in 1955. She worked for City Hospital and then St. John's Hospital. She worked as an aide and activities director for Haven Homes for nineteen years retiring in 1989. She was a member of United Lutheran Church where she was active with TAG, ULCW and Bible Study. She enjoyed camping, playing cards and watching game shows.
Survivors include her husband, Ralph of Red Wing; three children, Eugene (Karen) Cox of Chanhassen, Judi (Charles) Fosberg of Hager City, Wisconsin, and Richard (Tana) Cox of Lake City; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two sisters, June (William) Plank of Kellogg and Yvonne Wallum of Minneapolis. Preceding her in death were an infant daughter, Susan; infant great-grandson, Rory; and two brothers, Billy and Earl Heuer.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at United Lutheran Church with Reverend Randall Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 � 7 p.m. Wednesday at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and one hour prior to the time of services Thursday at the church.
