A memorial service will be held for Gladys Cotten on Friday May 16th at 11:00 AM at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Rochester Chapel. The Rev. Anjenette Bandel will officiate. Following a lunch after the service, committal services and burial of the urn will occur at Evergreen Cemetery in Mantorville. Mrs. Cotten, 94, of Rochester, died Thursday May 8, 2014 at Saint Mary's Hospital in Rochester.
Gladys Winifred Horeck was born February 5, 1920 in Chicago, Illinois. Raised in Rochester, Minnesota, she was a graduate of Rochester High School with the Class of 1938. She married Henry Niles Cotten, and the couple resided in Richfield. During World War II she worked on aircraft as part of the war effort. She worked a number of years at Control Data. Her husband was a carpenter. The couple traveled extensively. She enjoyed reading and watching Minnesota Twins baseball games. She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Rochester.
She is survived by nieces and nephews, Alvin Unger of Racine, Wisconsin, Lila Hanson of Rochester, Harvey (Karen) Cotten of Rochester, Larry (Pat) Cotten of Rochester, Randy (Deb) Cotten of Racine, Minnesota, Daverl (Evelyn) Cotten of Vancouver, Washington, Julie (James) Anderson of Waterville, Minnesota, Bob (Cheryl) Horeck of Fridley, Steve (Kathy) Horeck of Winona, and Wendy (Willis) Dey of Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
She was preceded in death by her husband; sisters, Margaret, Florence, and Elsie; brothers, Robert, and Richard; nephews, Darrell and Richard; and the love of her life, her dog, Heidi.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.
