Gilman H. Goehrs, Jr., 70, of Bay City, Wisc., died at his home with his wife and son at his side on Monday, February 1, 2010. Gil was born October 3, 1939 in St. Cloud, MN to Dr. Gilman and Phyllis Goehrs. He entered the Marine Corps in December of 1957. His tour of duty included Okinawa, the Philippines and San Diego. He was a gunner, inspector and mail clerk before being honorably discharged in 1962. Gil attended St. Cloud State University, graduating in 1964 with a Bachelor of Arts in Industrial Design. Sherry Taylor and Gil married on July 18, 1964. They lived in Illinois, Arden Hills and Blaine, Minnesota before moving to Bay City, Wisconsin in 1977. Employment included being an office manager at Consolidated Freightways for 5 years, Director of Food Service for Hospitality Hosts for 18 years and Vice President of Operations for Best Vendors, Inc. for 27 years. Gil retired February 1, 2008. Hobbies included being a hill climb points keeper in Dist. 23, Stunt Kite flying, collecting and playing with his Lionel "O" gauge trains and motorcycle riding. He and Sherry regularly attended the Sturgis, South Dakota motorcycle rallies. Sherry and Gil loved riding motorcycle around Lake Pepin regularly and they also enjoyed watching the NASCAR cup races.

Survivors include his wife, Sherry of Bay City; two sons, G. Erik (Star) Goehrs of Murrieta, Calif. and Troy D. Goehrs of Red Wing; granddaughters, Jessica (Ryan) Pavilach and Andrea; brother, Hallett (Patricia) Goehrs of Brown Deer, Wisc. and sister, Sandra (Harold) Wipperman of Gulf Breeze, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Douglas and a sister Marcia Karnes.

His celebration of life will be 11-2 p.m. Saturday, February 6, at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with an 11 a.m. service conducted by Pastor Jerry Olson. Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 8, Assembly Lane #5 at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
