Gilbert Leif Edon

Gilbert Leif Edon, 85, of Red Wing, died unexpectedly Monday, May 18, 2020 at his home. He was born on June 27, 1934, in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Leif and Asta (Svendsen) Edon. He graduated from Little Falls High School and attended NDSU in Fargo. On September 4, 1954, he was united in marriage to Janice Blilie in Fargo. They lived in the Fargo-Moorhead area until 1970 when they moved to Red Wing. He worked over 40 years for NSP retiring in 1990. In his retirement years he was very dedicated in taking care of Janice following her stroke. Janice died on June 14, 2006. He was a member of United Lutheran Church, Red Wing Elks BPOE#845 and the Sons of Norway. He enjoyed fishing, boating on the river and having his morning coffee and breakfast at Bev's Café.

Gilbert is survived by two children, Deborah (Ross) Deden and Eric Edon all of Red Wing; eight grandchildren, Alice (Mark) Prats, Claire Deden, Emily Edon, Sophie Edon, Macey Stephoni, Zachary Edon, Nicole Krause and Charlotte Rudnick; three great grandchildren, Madelynn, Akira and Kaia; one brother, Clyde (Carol) Edon of California and one sister, Leila Blilie of Nelson, Wisconsin along with several nieces and nephews. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Kristi on September 26, 2005.
