ROCHESTER - Gertrude "Gert" Neuvirth "Holly the Clown", 64, of Rochester, died Saturday, August 18, 2007 at the Golden Living Center�Rochester West. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church with Rev. Dave Berg officiating. Friends may call one hour before the service at the church. Private interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester.
Gertrude Golembieski was born April 21, 1943 in Monroe, Michigan to Louis and Estelle (Politowski) Golembieski. She married Frank Neuvirth February 9, 1963 in Ida, Michigan. Gert and Frank resided in Elkton, Minnesota for 16 years prior to moving to Rochester in 1988. Gert worked in the service industry for 35 years. Most recently she was a sales rep at the Dress Barn. Gert's passion was clowning and was known as "Holly the Clown." She was a member of the Queen City Jesters and the Clowns of America International. Gert also participated in many parades and events in Southeastern Minnesota, including the Rochester Fest and Stewartville parades. She was a toastmaster in the Chamber of Commerce, a volunteer for over 30 years with 4-H and was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Gert also enjoyed sewing and crocheting.
She is survived by her husband, Frank; four sons, Kenneth (Karin) Neuvirth, Andrew (Heidi) Neuvirth, Jay Neuvirth all of Rochester and David Neuvirth; six grandchildren; two sisters, Teresa Galloro and Susan (John) Beyer both of Ida, Michigan and a brother, Louis (Dee) Golembieski of Ida, Michigan. Gertrude was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Irene Nickel.
