Gertrude R. Martin, age 93, of Lake City, passed away Thursday, May 26, at the Olmsted Medical Center in Rochester. Gertrude was born September 22, 1917 in Lake City, MN to Milton and Clara (Juergens) Erickson. She attended school in Lake City and went on to attend Gustavus Adolphus College and received her teaching degree. She taught in Montevideo and North Branch. She married Merle Martin on August 16, 1944 in Lake City. She and her husband were self-employed serving the residents of Lake City from 1945 until 1979 with accounting, tax, and insurance needs. Merle preceded her in death on June 16, 1998. Gertrude was a member of the First Lutheran Church Lake City and the American Legion Post 8729 Ladies Auxiliary. She was an avid Twins fan and enjoyed fishing and gardening.

Survivors include one son, Peter Martin of Elko, MN; one daughter, Kristin (Jack) Schaefer of Stewartville, MN; and three grandchildren, Ryan (Stacy) Dube of Stewartville; Adrienne (Bryan O'Hern) Martin of St. Paul; Amanda (Mike) Becklund of Zumbro Falls; three step-grandchildren, Adam (Sarah) Schaefer, Celeste (Andrew) Lewis and Blake Schaefer of Rochester. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Frances Erickson.

Funeral service will be Tuesday May 31, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Lake City with the Reverend Darren Paulson officiating. Burial will take place at Lakewood Cemetery in Lake City. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Mahn Family Funeral Home Anderson Peterson Chapel Lake City is handling the arrangements.
