Gertrude (Trudy) Mae Huber, 84, of Red Wing, died Wednesday March 2, 2011 at her home. She was born on May 5, 1926 in Ryder, ND, the daughter of William and Gertie (Anderson) Valley. Following the death of her mother, she was adopted at 18 days of age by Herbert and Ida Pittings. She graduated from McGregor High School, McGregor, MN in 1944 and from Minneapolis General Hospital School of Nursing in 1951. After graduating from Minneapolis General she worked in the tuberculosis ward at the Veteran's Hospital in Temple, TX. She married Donald Huber on May 17, 1952 in Minneapolis. Trudy worked at the Interstate Medical Center in the 1950's and 1960's and at the Ellsworth Care Center from 1967 to 1981. They farmed in Hartland Township, Ellsworth from 1954 to 1982. They moved to Ellsworth and lived there for 7 years. In 1989 they moved to Red Wing. Trudy was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Presbyterian Women, and served as a deacon. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, crocheting, and reading her Bible.

She is survived by her husband, Donald; three children, Paul Huber of Ellsworth, Ann (Terry) Young of Ellsworth, Jane (Edward) McNamara of Goodhue; and eight grandchildren, Kristen (Chris) Melius, Lucas Young, Megan McNamara, Abbey McNamara, Katherine Huber, Molly McNamara, Elizabeth Huber, Samuel McNamara, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ferne Tosh and Evelyn Valley and three brothers, Glen, Gordon, and Roy Valley.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 5, 2011 at First Presbyterian Church in Red Wing with Reverend Gary Elg officiating. Burial will be at a later date at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Ellsworth, Wis. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and one hour prior to the service at the church.
