Gerrett Paul Evans, a long time resident of the Pine Island community for 16 years, died on August 5, 2009. Gerrett is survived by his mother, Doris Evans (St. Cloud, MN) and his brothers and sisters: Roger and wife Karen (Littleton, CO), Lee and husband David (Carmel Valley, CA), Carolene and husband Bob (Niwot, CO), Charolette (St. Cloud, MN), Ruth and husband Bill (Louisville, CO) and Del and wife Kim (Aurora, CO). Also, he leaves eleven nephews and nieces, one great niece, and his dog, Tapper. Gerrett is preceded in death by his father Marcellus W. Evans and his niece, Jenna. A funeral was held in St. Cloud, Minnesota on August 14, and Gerrett is interned at the Assumption/Calvary Cemetery in St. Cloud.
Gerrett was born on December 13, 1963 in St. CLoud, Minnesota. He grew up in St. Cloud. He was the youngest of seven children. He was a loyal son, brother, uncle, friend and neighbor.
Gerrett was drawn to the world of finance. He has been called an "expert" and "gifted" with numbers. He served all of his clients with respect and loyalty. He was always honorable in his dealings with people.
Gerrett was fun to be around. He had a zest for life. He was excitable, and you couldn't help but enjoy seeing and hearing him get excited about any topic he had an opinion. He was selfless and kind. Gerrett was usually quiet and reserved, but you could always hear his laugh in a crowd. He never sought to be the center of attention. During conversation, Gerrett never dwelled on his problems and difficulties, but wanted to listen to you.
Gerrett enjoyed the woods and being surrounded by nature. He loved hunting and fishing. He loved his lake property, and always enjoyed talking about it with people. He spent countless hours "working the land" at the lake, preparing the property for his dream house. He liked dogs and he loved for his dog Tapper to accompany him everywhere.
Gerrett was helpful to everyone. He made many friends by being the helpful servant to strangers. Gerrett helped some friends with their businesses, and he was always a stand by to fill in with time if needed. In return, friends and neighbors treated Gerrett like family.
Gerrett was 45 years old when he died. His family and friends, and those lives of others he touched will miss Gerrett.
A Pine Island Memorial Service for Gerrett will be held on Thursday, November 19, 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm (service at 7:00 pm) at the Mahn Funeral Home (Mahler Chapel) at 209 1st Ave NW Pine Island, MN.
