Geraldine Frances "Geri" (Veith) Stenwick, 88, Red Wing, died Thursday, December 17, 2009, at St. Brigid's at Hi-Park. She was born February 8, 1921 in Red Wing. She attended Red Wing Central High School and in 1939 married Vincent F. Stenwick. He preceded her in death in 1949. Geri was also preceded in death by her mother, Louise Veith, her only sister, Lois Veith Befort Olson and one niece, Sara Olson Wright. She had two children: Anna Louise and Michael William. Geri worked for many years at Red Wing City Hospital as a nurse aide until it closed. She also worked as a podiatry assistant and she finished her career working in the Central Supply Department at St. John's Hospital in Red Wing. Geri was respected by her colleagues and family for faithfully and effectively doing her best after suddenly having the responsibility for two young children and having to become a working mother. Grandma Louise and Geri worked together to provide for themselves and the children. Geri was an active member of United Lutheran Church. She also was a long time member in Pocahontas of the Red Men Lodge. Geri considered her close friends/neighbors, Anna Hamlin Michelson and Selma Oie, as family. She was extremely proud that her son, Michael, became a physician and her daughter, Anna, a social worker. Geri is survived by her son, Michael Stenwick, MD., F. A. C. P. (Judy) of Golden Valley, MN; her daughter, Anna Stenwick Green, M. S. W., of Chicago, IL; four grandchildren: Scott (Maurine) Stenwick of Minneapolis, MN, Gregg (Melissa) Stenwick of West Springfield, MA, Nathan (Helen) Green of Bristol, United Kingdom and Joanna (Alexis) Green Livieratos of Grand Junction, MI; five great-grandchildren: Brendan, Ryan, Meghan, Sophia and Layla Rose; two nephews: Bill (Rhonda) Olson and Gary (Lynn) Olson and one niece Susan (Larry) Olson Comer.

Geri will be missed dearly by her family who are very proud of her life and the hard work she put into making our lives possible. The family would like to extend its great appreciation to the entire staff of St. Brigid's of Hi-Park, SNF, and Fairview Hospice, as well as Dr. De Jong.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday, December 21, 2009, at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with Reverend Randall Johnson officiating. Burial will be at St. John's Cemetery, Red Wing. Visitation will be 6 - 8 p. m. Sunday and for one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home. Memorials are preferred to St. Brigid's at Hi-Park, SNF, the American Cancer Society, the Alzheimer's Association or United Lutheran Church
