Gerald D. Warehime

June 1, 1934 — February 8, 2013

Gerald Donald Warehime, age 78, passed away peacefully at Pine Haven Nursing Home in Pine Island on February 8, 2013 from complications of Alzheimer's disease.

A visitation is scheduled for February 11, 2013 from 4-7 pm at the Mahn Family Funeral Home - Mahler Chapel in Pine Island. The funeral will be held on February 12th at 11:00 am at the Saint Paul Lutheran Church in Pine Island with an additional visitation 1 hour prior to the service. Interment

Jerry was born to Raymond and Alice (Vangness) Warehime on June 1, 1934 in rural West Concord. He was raised and attended a few rural schools in the West Concord/Kenyon/Pine Island area through 8th grade. He worked for multiple farmers after school and went on to work for Pine Island Areal Construction for 13 years. He worked for the American Breeder Association for 5 years. In 1955 he joined the Army and spent 2 years driving the Generals around in Germany. It was a job that he thoroughly enjoyed. After the service he went to work for the cement company Romac in Rochester for many years. He suffered a back injury 1979 and therefore, moved on to trucking. He worked for various companies including Midwest Specialized Transport, Fitzsimmons and most recently Pine Island Land-O-Lakes until he retired in 2003.

Jerry met Mary Shaughnessy through mutual friends and they were married on April 8, 1960. They were divorced 33 years later. He then married Anna (Blackburn) on June 1, 1996. They made their home in Douglas, Minnesota.

Jerry found many reasons in life to celebrate. His laugh was one of the things that people remember most about him. He was very witty and went to great lengths to make people laugh. However, Jerry was primarily known for being a superb dancer. He spent many hours at the Pla-Mor in Rochester right up until the day they closed their doors. He was always the first person on the dance floor and was often the last person to leave the floor. Jerry loved to read and watch old western shows and war movies. Jerry also loved to fish, hunt and was known for raising his family on some extremely exotic
wild game. His specialty was cow-tongue soup and raccoon burgers.

He was a member of the Pine Island American Legion - Post 184.

Jerry is survived by his wife Anna and children Diane Watson of Rochester, Debbie Warehime of Rochester, Donald Warehime ( Pauline Nardinger) of Wasojia, Denise Warehime of Wasojia, Darla (Zane) Schletty of West Concord, Danelle (Mark) Dykes of Mazeppa. 9 grandchildren: Jacob and Adam Warehime, Courtney and Cody Schletty, Hanna Watson, Hailey, Tyler, Casey and Natalie Dykes and one Great Grandchild on the way. His sister Judy (Wayne) Barth from Byron, MN. Step children Sharie, Denton and Greg Holzer and 3 step grandchildren. He was also survived by 2 nieces Marianne Sobek and Cindy Ronningen.

He is preceded in death by his parents. God Bless his soul.
