The funeral service for Gerald "Jerry" Lillie will at 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 19, 2007 at Mahn Family Funeral Home-Rochester Chapel with Tony Lillie officiating. Interment will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Wm. T. McCoy Post #92 of Rochester.
Mr. Lillie, 85, of Rochester died Tuesday (October 16, 2007) at St Mary's Hospital in Rochester.
Gerald J. Lillie was born February 27, 1922 in Mazeppa, Minnesota. He served as a medic in the U. S. Army during WWII, from 1942 to 1945, in both the Philippines and Saipan. On October 31, 1947 he married Shirley Donaldson in Rochester. He delivered ice for Rochester Ice and Fuel until 1952, at which time he began working for Home Gas in Rochester, until his retirement in 1983. Gerald was a member of the American Legion and a 50 Year Member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and watching the Minnesota Twins.
Survivors include one son, Gerald W (Jaci) Lillie of Blooming Prairie; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Donald (Maxine) Lillie of Smyrna, Georgia; one sister, Marion Maier of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his wife and one sister.
Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday and an hour before the service Friday at Mahn Family Funeral Home-Rochester Chapel.
Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.
