Gerald Duane Kyllo, 88, of Red Wing, died Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at Benedictine Living Community. He was born August 5, 1932 in Red Wing to Raymond and Luella (Lexvold) Kyllo. He attended Lena Country Schools and graduated from Zumbrota High School in 1951. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 until his honorable discharge in 1955. Following his service, he attended the University of Minnesota. He worked for North Central Airlines which would later become Northwest Airlines. He also worked for Standard Oil in Cannon Falls, Red Wing Pottery, Lee Lines and he retired as a custodian for the Red Wing Technical College. He then worked part time for Sturdiwheat, as driver for River City Limo and Red Wing Motors. In 1967 he married Doris Lohse. The couple later divorced. He married Donna Reinhart in 1984. Donna passed away this June. Gerald was a member of United Lutheran Church and the Leo C. Peterson American Legion, Post 54.
He is survived by his two children; Deanna (Paul Zamarripa) Peterson of Red Wing and Douglas (Susanne McMurry) Kyllo of Zumbrota; four grandchildren, Kyera and Aaron Peterson and Ethan and Harley Kyllo; step-children, Rebecca Dekart and Douglas Reinhart; brothers, Arlen (Betty) Kyllo of Zumbrota and Howard (Sharon) Kyllo of Red Wing; as well as nieces and nephews, other family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Donna; brother, Russell; step-children, Debbie and Alan; and his parents.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Monday, December 14, 2020 at United Lutheran Church with Reverend Justin Boeding presiding. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church. Masks and social distancing are required. Burial with full military honors will be at Burnside Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to United Lutheran Church.
