Gerald “Jerry” Lee Kizer, 78, of Red Wing, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2024, at the Mayo Clinic Health System, Red Wing Campus. He was born on September 24, 1945, in Wabasha, Minnesota to Helmer and Sylvia (Rothbarth) Kizer. He graduated form Red Wing High School in 1963 and then served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Following his discharge, he returned to Red Wing and on January 16, 1970, he was united in marriage to Susan Whealy. For over 40 years he was employed with the Red Wing Shoe Company. Jerry enjoyed attending car shows, fishing, snowmobiles and was an avid sports fan.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Sue; three daughters, Cheryl Huston of Cornell, WI, Kim (Mark) Blesener of Lakeville and Rebecka (Lon) Hunecke of Goodhue; four grandchildren, Kayla, Trevor, Miranda and Cassandra; four great grandchildren; two sisters, Sharon Goodwin of Washington and Linda (Paul) Flynn of Minong, WI along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Donald and Richard.
A graveside service will be at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, June 9, 2024, at the Vasa Lutheran Cemetery in Vasa followed by a reception at the Vasa Lutheran Center. Arrangements are by the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel.
