Gerald E. Holst

Gerald E. Holst, 84, of Red Wing, died Monday, November 22, 2010. He was born April 20, 1926, in Hay Creek Township to William, Sr. and Margaret (Zignego) Holst. He attended Red Wing Central High School and had worked at the Red Wing Shoe Company and later at the Warden Crandall Garage. He enjoyed working on cars, collecting antiques, fixing clocks, crossword puzzles and playing card games.

He is survived by a sister, Margaret Hasbargen of Mankato; sister-in-law, Helen Holst of Hager City; several nieces and nephews and close family friend, Sheena (Fortuna) Meeker of Arizona.

He was preceded in death by a brother, William Holst and best friend, Franco Fortuna.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, with Reverend Dar Reeck officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery.
