Gerald Arnold Hanson

Gerald "Jerry" Arnold Hanson, 77, of Hopkins, Minnesota died Tuesday, January 8, 2019 surrounded by his family. He was born June 4, 1941 in Red Wing to Arnold and Erna (Fitschen) Hanson. He graduated from Red Wing Central High School in 1959. He went on to earn an associate degree from the Dunwoody Institute. For more than 30 years he worked for Hennepin County as a civil engineer. He was formerly married to Judy Erickson. Jerry enjoyed spending time with his family, woodworking, and traveling.
He is survived by three sons, Jeff Hanson, Steve (Tania) Hanson, and Craig (Erin) Hanson; two grandchildren, Christopher and Emily Hanson; one sister, Joan (John) Pearson; brother-in-law, Fred Malueg and three nieces. He was preceded in death by one sister, Sharon Malueg and his parents.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Friday, January 18, 2019 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, Red Wing. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com
