Gerald Franklin Cody

Gerald Franklin Cody, 73 of Red Wing, died Saturday, March 30, 2013 surrounded by his family at his home. He was born March 5, 1940 in Buffalo City, Wisconsin, son of Jason and Eileen (Achenbach) Cody. In 1943, Gerald moved to Red Wing. He married Deanna Mae Sanford in Welch, Minnesota on January 13, 1957. Gerald's career consisted of many different jobs. He worked at a filling Station and farmed for several years. From 1965 until 2001, he worked at S.B. Foot Tanning and from 1980 until 1984, he worked as a reserve police officer. He also worked at Riviera Cabinets until retiring in 2007. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and the Red Wing Wildlife League for 40 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and collecting wildlife paintings.

Gerald is survived by his four children, Jerome (Janice) Cody of Balsam Lake, WI, Robert (Jeanine) Cody of Hastings, MN, Charles (Jill) Cody of Red Wing, MN, and Debra Cody of Inver Grove Heights, MN; 13 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Hampton and Marilyn Biedermann. He was preceded in death by his Wife of 47 years, Deanna; his parents; and two brothers.

Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 6, 2013 at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel. A private burial will be held at the Buffalo City Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
