Gerald E. Biery, age 76, of Pine Island died on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at the Pine Haven Care Center in Pine Island. The funeral service will be on Thursday, January 30, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Saint Paul Lutheran Church with Pastor Kip Groettum and Pastor John Torris Lohre co-officiating. Burial will be in Berne Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at the Mahn Family Funeral Home - Mahler Chapel in Pine Island and on Thursday for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Gerald Edward Biery was born on April 27, 1937 in Pine Island, MN to Edward and Emma (nee Wabasha) Biery. He grew up in rural Pine Island and attended country school. He helped his dad on the farm raising dogs. On June 29, 1963 he married Bonita K. Milan in Austin, MN. They made their home in Pine Island for several years, and then moved to Red Wing for four years before returning to Pine Island. Gerald retired in 1999 after thirty nine years working for the Goodhue Elevator. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, yearly vacations, tinkering and puttering around on the farm, family gatherings and cook outs. Gerald was a member of the Moose Lodge in Rochester and Saint Paul Lutheran Church, where he loved to attend and rarely missed a Sunday service. Gerald is survived by his daughters, Charlotte (Arthur) Davidson of Pine Island, Brenda Gullickson of Hayfield, Jennifer Biery of Zumbrota and Heidi Biery of Pine Island; ten grandchildren, Dallas Sibley, Brandon Gullickson, Dustin Gullickson, Tara Gullickson, Katie Davidson, Jordan Roberts, Miranda Roberts, Brittney Biery, Isabel Biery and Andrew Biery; two great-grandsons, Weston and Mason and sister, Geraldine Horsman of Pine Island. Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Emma and wife, Bonita.
