George H. Partington, age 94 of Lake City, passed away on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at the Lake City Care Center. George was born on May 24, 1917 to William & May (Lomas) Partington in Claremont, S.D. George's father came to America in 1913 playing the violin for people's entertainment on the boat for his wages. They intended to settle in Canada when they arrived in the US but missed a train and settled near Farmington. George became a US Citizen with his family on July 28, 1923. The family farmed in the Farmington area, where George plowed with horses. He married Inez Rutz on November 14, 1940 in Lake City. George worked at Gillett Eaton for many years where he worked as a machinist. His wife Inez passed away in 2003. George enjoyed spending time with family, fishing, bowling and playing cards with his friends and softball in his younger years. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Lake City.
George is survived by his three sons, Lynn (Sharon) Partington of Brownsville, MN, and their family, Dawn and Steve Kinderman, Benjamin and Levenda Ranney, Landon and Austin Ranney and Sam and Ross Kinderman, Michael and Jill Partington, Joseph, Joshua and Hunter; Lee (Barb) Partington of Lake City, and their family, Terry and Tim Partington and Jasmin, Jeremy (Beth) Wolf, Catherine, Katie, Nathan, Jason; Larry (Carol) Partington of Winona and their family, Brad and Kristee Partington, Abbe and Alexis, Bret and Christy Partington, Brady and Emma, Rebecca and Scot Berkley, Luke, Marc, and Tate; one brother Jim Partington of Farmington.
George is preceded in death by his wife, Inez Partington; three brothers and two sisters: John, Sadie, William Gordon, Fred and Betty Mae.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Lake City, with Reverend Daniel Kroll officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow the service at St. John's Cemetery.
