George M. Osborn, 85, of Red Wing, passed away unexpectedly September 26, 2014 at Mayo Health Systems, Red Wing. He was born June 12, 1929 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Charles and Edna Osborn. After graduating from high school he enlisted in the U.S. Army. After being honorably discharged he earned his degree at the University of South Dakota. On January 31, 1953 he married Patricia Krell in Sioux Falls. George worked at the S. B. FootTanning Company from 1959-1981 and he retired from the Red Wing Shoe Company in 1991.
He will be deeply missed by his six children, Sandy (Rod) Ankney of Sioux Falls, Craig Osborn of Red Wing, Kevin (Cheryl) of Pigeon Forge, Tenn., Lee of Rogers, Joanne (Luke) Dunn of Hastings and Erin (Chad) Thompson of Prior Lake; ten grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his sister, Ellen Shoening; sisters-in-law, Maxine Krell, Shirley Kiley and Carol Doetzel, all of Sioux Falls, S.D. as well as many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Patricia and his sister, Burness Semrau.
