George Hastings McDougall, age 79 of Hager City, Wisconsin, formerly of Red Wing, MN, died on Monday, October 20, 2008 at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester, MN.
George was born on November 28, 1928 in Duluth, MN to Raymond and Alice (Hastings) McDougall. He grew up in the Duluth area and graduated from Duluth High School. He enlisted in the United States Navy and served from 1946 until 1949. He then attended and graduated from the University of Minnesota Pharmacy Program and began McDougall Pharmacy in Hibbing, Minnesota before moving to White Bear Lake and then Red Wing where he was employed at Econofood's as a pharmacist. During that time George was united in marriage to Angeline Bernice Petrini on Sept 8, 1951. In the early 1980's George built his own apple orchard. In 1986 the couple built a home in Hager City, Wisconsin where they lived until his death. George enjoyed golfing, fishing, playing cards, and traveling. He was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus, treasurer of the ABCD Club, VFW member, and a devoted member of the Catholic Church of Saint Joseph.
George is survived by his loving wife, Angeline McDougall of Hager City, Wisconsin; sons Kevin McDougall (Terese) of Juneau, Alaska, and Dave (Suzette) McDougall of Red Wing, Minnesota; grandchild Logan McDougall. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Mary Westerhaus.
Mass of Resurrection will be 11 a.m., Friday, October 24, 2008 at the Church of Saint Joseph in Red Wing. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Cappy Cappola, Don Jansen, Chuck Newlin, Dick Back, Jerry Weigenant and Van Dowd. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday, October 23, 2008 at the at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and for one hour prior to Mass at church.
