Funeral services for George Margellos will be held Thursday January 12th at 10:00 AM at Holy Anargyroi Greek Orthodox Church in Rochester. Father Mark Munoz will officiate. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester. Mr. Margellos, 88, of Rochester, died peacefully Sunday January 8, 2017 at Maple Manor Nursing and Rehab.
George Harry Margellos was born December 16, 1928 to Harry and Anastasia Margellos in Rochester. He was a graduate of Rochester Senior High School with the Class of 1947. He then attended Rochester College. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea during the Korean War. He was the owner of the Princess Cafe, and he was employed at AMPI.
George was a member of Holy Anargyroi Greek Orthodox Church, the Order of AHEPA (American Hellenic Education Progressive Association), the Korean War Veterans' Club, the American Legion - Wm. T. McCoy Post 92, the VFW, the Rochester International Association, the History Center of Olmsted County, and he enjoyed the "Coffee at the Princess Cafe Lectures," which were named after his restaurant.
He married Linda Schultz on September 18, 1999, and they enjoyed a wonderful life together.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Margellos of Rochester; his sisters, Athena Seale of Dallas, Texas, and Voula (Jim) Heffernan of Duluth, Minnesota; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Marguerite.
Visitation will be Wednesday January 11th from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Rochester Chapel, and the Trisagion will be at 7:00 PM.
