George Wilmot Benjamin

A memorial service for George W. Benjamin will be held Thursday December 6th at 1:30 PM on the fourth floor of Samaritan Bethany Home on 8th. The Reverend Jean Boese will officiate. Mr. Benjamin, 91, of Rochester, died at Samaritan Bethany Home on Sunday December 2, 2012. There will be no visitation or reviewal, and burial of Mr. Benjamin's cremated remains will occur at a later date at the Kings Grove Cemetery in Mars Hill, Maine.
George Wilmot Benjamin was born November 28, 1921 in Mars Hill, the son of John and Etna (nee Kearney) Benjamin. Raised in Mars Hill, he was a graduate of Mars Hill Institute (High School). He served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1942 to 1944. Eventually, he moved to Rochester, Minnesota and was a career letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service.
Mr. Benjamin is survived by nieces and nephews; notably Mr. John Crowley, Mr. Sterling Smith, and Mrs. Cathy Saylor. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and a brother.
