Geneva Pearl Thoner

Geneva Pearl Thoner, age 95, of Red Wing, died Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at St. Brigid's at Hi-Park. She was born June 10, 1916 in El Paso Township, WI, the daughter of Ernest and Myrtle (Perkins) Betterley. She attended schools in Red Wing, MN and Pepin, WI. She married Lavern Simanski on June 10, 1937 in Red Wing. He died in April of 1960. She then married Harry Thoner in December of 1962. He died in May of 1978. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. She was a homemaker and enjoyed baking, crocheting and craft projects.

She is survived by three daughters, Diane (John) Parsons of Lake City, Mary (Jack) Tobias of Watertown, WI, and Linda (Richard) Blair of River Falls; one son Brent (Doreen) Simanski of Auroa, CO; one sister, Betty Anderson of Red Wing; one daughter-in-law, Katherine Simanski of Lake City. She is also survived by eighteen grandchildren and many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husbands; two sons, Dennis and Gary; and two brothers Ernest and Wayne Betterley.

Funeral will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at St. Brigid's at Hi- Park Chapel with Dar Reeck officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Monday, December 26, 2011 at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and for one hour prior to the service at St. Brigid's at Hi-Park Chapel.
