A memorial service for Gaylord Allen will be held Sunday October 9th at 2:00 PM at Peace United Church of Christ in Rochester. The Reverend Paul Bauch will officiate. Mr. Allen, 97, of Rochester, died Tuesday October 4, 2016 at Samaritan Bethany Home on 8th in Rochester.
Gaylord Milo Allen was born July 5, 1919 in Jackson, Michigan, the son of Milo and Ella Allen. He was a lifelong resident of Jackson until moving to Rochester, Minnesota in 2000. He married Betty Dittis on June 4, 1949 at St. John's UCC in Jackson. Gaylord was a draftsman, working at Clark Equipment in Jackson. He retired in the early 1980s. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, and gardening. He was a collector of coins and stamps.
He is survived by his wife Betty Allen of Rochester; a daughter, Christine (Thomas) Lewis of Sturgis, Michigan; a son, David Allen, and daughter-in-law, Kathleen Allen of Rochester, Minnesota; and three grandchildren, Richard Allen of Rochester, Minnesota, Derrick Allen of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Sgt. Joseph (Jessica) Allen of Fort Drum, New York.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Sunday. If so desired, memorials may be directed to Peace United Church of Christ. Online tributes are being welcomed, and may be written at mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com .
