Gary Hern, age 72, of Plainview formerly of Lake City passed away, Heaven went fishing and used just the right bait and got a great catch on Monday, January 02, 2017 at Green Prairie Rehab Center in Plainview. Gary was born on December 29, 1944 in Lake City to Jack and Harriet (Holst) Hern in Lake City.
Gary grew up in Lake City and graduated from Lincoln High School in Lake City. He married Sandra Quade in Red Wing. They lived in Lake City where they raised their two daughters. Gary worked at ABM Flour Mill in Red Wing. Gary & Sandra later divorced. Gary enjoyed fishing and spending time outdoors.
Gary is survived by two daughters, Melissa Hern of Rochester, and Jennifer (Perry) Booker of Rochester, a son Darrell Hern of Lake City; 12 grandchildren; a sister Sherrin (Erland) Banks of Lake City.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister Simmone Bremer.
A Graveside service will be held at St. John's Cemetery in Lake City, Thursday at 1:00 pm. Arrangements are with the Mahn Family Funeral Home Anderson-Peterson Chapel in Lake City.
