Gary Alvin Glander

Gary Alvin Glander, 77, of Oak Center, passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at the Goodhue Senior Living Center. Gary was born on April 17, 1947 to Alvin & Lorraine (Miller) Glander in Goodhue County. He graduated from Mazeppa High School and enlisted in the US Army in 1967, serving until he was honorably discharged. He married Laura Sprick on November 28, 1981 and they made their home in Oak Center where they had a hobby farm. Gary worked for Federal Mogul for 47 years, retiring at age 71. Gary and Laura were foster parents to many children throughout the years. He was a member of St. Mary’s of the Lake Catholic Church and the American Legion and often enjoyed spending time outside, snowmobiling, woodworking and tinkering with things. Gary is survived by his sons, Brian (Cheri) Glander of Lake City, Cory Glander of Dubuque, IA, Todd Glander of Austin and Micah Blackwood of Lake City; grandchildren, Mitchell (Nikki), Matt and Samantha Blattner; great-grandchildren, Maxwell and Kinsley Blattner and Destiny and Brayden Lange; brothers, Gerald, James (Carol), John and Bob Glander all of Mazeppa; sister, Lori (Fred) Eberhart of Zumbrota; brothers-in-law, Tom, Joe and Charlie Sprick all of Lake City; sister-in-law, Doralee Sprick of Texas and mother-in-law, Alice Sprick of Lake City. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Laura, father-in-law Frederick Sprick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 24, 2024 at St. Mary's of the Lake Church in Lake City, MN with Father The Hoang officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, August 23, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Mahn Family Funeral Home Anderson-Peterson Chapel Lake City and one hour prior to the service at the church.
