PINE ISLAND ? The Funeral for Frieda H. Spreiter will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Zwingli United Church of Christ in Berne, MN with Rev. Victor Jortack officiating. Burial will be in the Berne Cemetery.
Mrs. Spreiter, 93, of Pine Island, died Saturday (Oct. 27, 2007) at Pine Haven Care Center in Pine Island.
Frieda Hilda Karlen was born Apr. 1, 1914 in Roscoe Township, Goodhue County, MN to John and Emelia (Kressler) Karlen. She was raised in the Pine Island area and attended Pine Island Schools. On June 16, 1937 she married Howard L. Spreiter on the Karlen farm in Goodhue County. The couple farmed in the Berne area until retirement. Mr. Spreiter died in 1995. She had resided at Evergreen Place in Pine Island since January 2007. She was an active member of Zwingli United Church of Christ and enjoyed sewing, quilting, and gardening.
Survivors include her daughter Karen A. Miller of St. Louis, MO; two sons Leon (Irene) of West Concord; and Larry of Suring, WI; six grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; one great great grand daughter; two step grandchildren; four step great grandchildren; and her sister Martha Streiff of West Concord. Twelve siblings preceded her in death.
Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday at Mahn Family Funeral Home -Mahler Chapel in Pine Island and one hour before the service at the church.
Memorials are suggested to Zwingli United Church of Christ, the Ronald McDonald House, or Habitat for Humanity UCC.
