Frieda Elsie Riess

Frieda Elsie (Schauer) Riess, 103, was called home Tuesday February 25, 2014 at Golden Living Center Rochester East. Frieda was born April 28, 1910 to Robert and Louise Schauer. She grew up on a farm north of Rochester. She married Henry Otto Riess in January 1933. The couple farmed north of Rochester until Henry was killed in a farming accident in 1958. Frieda moved to Rochester in 1960. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Her hobbies were flowers, gardening, feeding and watching birds, and puzzle books. She would walk to the North Broadway McDonalds every day and have a quarter pounder with cheese, apple pie, and coffee.
She is survived by two children, Lawrence (Betty) Riess of Chatfield, and Harriet Riess of Rochester; two grandchildren, Laureen (Tim) McFarlin of Tomah, Wisconsin, and Lendon Riess of Rochester; six great-grandchildren, Michael (Kim) McFarlin of Hainesville, Illinois, Justin McFarlin of Stewartville, Corinne, Seth, Grace, and Isaac Riess of Rochester.
She was preceded in death by her husband Henry Riess, two sisters, and five brothers.
A private funeral service for Frieda will be held, and burial will occur at Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester.
