Fredric Curtis Thomforde, 82, passed away unexpectedly Monday, October 18, 2021 at his home. He was born on May 28, 1939 in Berne Minnesota to Wally and Doris (Eayrs) Thomforde. He grew up in Zumbrota, and graduated from high school in 1957. He met Joan Fredrickson and they were married on October 18, 1966. They lived in Zumbrota, where they raised 3 boys on the family farm.
In his earlier years, Fred served in the National Guard, for a total of 4 years. Upon his return home from basic training in Fort Leonard Wood, MIssouri, he went into partnership with his father, at Wally's Meat Market in Zumbrota. He worked at the meat market for 30 years. Throughout his life he enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting and fishing, watching sports on TV, playing cards, telling detailed stories and seeing his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Joan, "Joni", sons ; Kurt of Zumbrota, Keith of Rochester, Kraig (Kelly) of Byron; 5 grandchildren and 1 great -grandchild; 2 brothers, Duane (June) of New Hampshire, Tim of Kansas and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Wally and Doris, sister Kay and brother, Tom.
Please join us for a memorial service on Friday, October 22, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Zumbrota. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM and the service will immediately follow at 2:00 PM. Burial will be at the Zumbrota Cemetery.
