Frederick Wiech

Frederick Lee Wiech, 64, of Red Wing, died Sunday at his home. He was born on November 1, 1943, in Detroit, Mich., the son of Leonard and Freida Wiech. He graduated from Lake City High School in 1961. On July 20, 1963, he was married to Susan Enevold. They lived in Red Wing where he worked for Meyer Industries, Aslakson's Blacktopping, Mississippi Welders Supply, Plaas Incorporated and was most recently self-employed in the plumbing and heating business. Susan died November 26, 2007. Frederick served on the Red Wing City Council, Red Wing Harbor Commission and Red Wing Vo-Tech Advisory Board. He also volunteered with the Boy Scouts program and was a member of United Lutheran Church. He enjoyed hunting and going to auctions.

Survivors include three sons, Tony (Tracey) Wiech of Des Moines, Iowa, Christopher Wiech of Frontenac, and Kory (LouAnn) Wiech of Wanamingo; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his mother Frieda Wiech of Bloomington, Minn.; five brothers Larry (Terri) Henry of Red Wing, Mike VanDorn of Bovey, Minn., Ben Wiech and Lee (Pauline) Wiech both of Bloomington, Minn. and Dean (Wendy) Wiech of Colgate, Wis. and one sister Patti (Larry) Buske of Hutchinson, Minn. He was preceded in death by his father, wife, and twin brother Robert Wiech.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 25, 2008, at United Lutheran Church with Rev. Randall Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Burnside Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, and for one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church.
