OBITUARY: Frederick "Fritz" Poncelet

Mass of Christian Burial for Frederick "Fritz" Poncelet will be on Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at 11AM in Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church of Mazeppa with Father Joseph Keefe officiating. Burial will follow in the Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church Cemetery.

Fritz, age 68, of Mazeppa died on Sunday, April 5, 2009 at his home. He was born Frederick Joseph Poncelet on June 22, 1940 in Red Wing to Matthew and Angelia (nee Kohn) Poncelet. He attended Saint Mary's School in Bellechester and Mazeppa High School. Fritz worked on his father's farm and on May 11, 1963 married Rose Marie Richter in Bellechester. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Bellechester where they continued farming. They moved to their present farm rural Mazeppa in 1967. Fritz was a member of Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and a past member of the Zumbro Falls Sportsman Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, four-wheeling, coyote hunting in the winter months and most of all farming.

He is survived by his wife, Rose, of Mazeppa; three daughters: Shari (Sam) McClelland of Red Wing, Amy (Paul) Zimmerman of Mazeppa and Jean (Doug) McNallan of Mantorville; seven grandchildren: Sarah Heise, Katie Poncelet, Brad Zimmerman, Riley McClelland, Ryan McNallan, Jessica McNallan and Shana McClelland; two sisters: Betty Cronin of Lake City and Marge (Jerry) Majerus of Bellechester; two brothers: Nick (Jeanette) Poncelet of Lake City and Dennis (Pam) Poncelet of Mazeppa; two foster brothers: Harold (Jane) Roberts of Pine Island and Dave (Jean) Sackette of Duluth and one sister-in-law, Bev Poncelet of Mazeppa. He was preceded in death by his parents, Matthew and Angelia; one son, Ted; and one brother, Jim.

Visitation will be from 4-7PM on Tuesday at the Mahn Family Funeral Home � Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and one hour before services at the church on Wednesday. There will be a Rosary Service Tuesday at 7PM at the funeral home led by the Knights of Columbus.
