Frederick Lee Butler

January 14, 1965 — September 3, 2024

Red Wing

Frederick Lee Butler, 59, of Red Wing, died Tuesday, September 3, 2024 while working on a job in Syracuse, New York. He was born January 14, 1965 in Red Wing to Patrick and Mona (Richardson) Butler. He grew up and attended school in Red Wing before joining the National Guard. He went on to work for Meyer Industries, security at the Xcel Prairie Island nuclear plant and for Mac Tech which later split, and Fred joined Hydratight. He was working as a traveling machinist for Hydratight at the time of his passing.

Fred had two daughters and he loved being a father to his girls. In his free time, he liked to fish, and play bags and darts. At one time he was a member of a local dart team. He liked to fix things and he could often be found working on his vehicles. Most of all he enjoyed being Papa to his two grandchildren, Nadia and Hudson. Nadia was her Papa’s shadow.

Fred had a particular sense of humor and enjoyed pranking his sisters well into adulthood. But he was always there when anyone needed him. He was a good listener who wasn’t afraid to be blunt if that’s what someone needed to hear. He will be dearly missed by many.

He is survived by his daughters, Alex (Tayte) Butler of Rochester, Minn. and Kelsey (Don) Butler of Hager City, Wis.; grandchildren, Hudson and Nadia; two sisters, Diana (Larry) Dettmer and Janey (John) Fuchs, both of Lake City, Minn.; as well as nieces, nephews, other family and many friends.

He is preceded in death by his brother, Matthew Butler, and his parents.

A Celebration of Life will be from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Septemebr 28, 2024, at the Frontenac Sportsmens Club.
