OBITUARY: Francis "Dutch" Barth
Memorial service for Francis "Dutch" Barth will be at 11AM on Saturday, November 8, 2008 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home Mahler Chapel in Pine Island with Father Kurt Farrell officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Island Cemetery.
Francis William "Dutch" Barth, age 85, of Dodge Center, died on Thursday, October 30, 2008 at Fairview Nursing Home in Dodge Center. He was born on July 17, 1923 in New Haven Township, Olmsted County, MN to Charles and Marion (Noehl) Barth. He attended school in Pine Island and graduated from Pine Island High School. Dutch farmed in Olmsted County and on November 12, 1947, he married Eleanor Cornwell in Pine Island. They made their home in the Pine Island area where Dutch farmed until the mid 1960's. At this time, they moved into Pine Island and Dutch was a loan officer for Production Credit Association in Zumbrota and later sold residential real estate around the Pine Island area. They moved to Dodge Center about 1982 and remained there until the time of his death. Eleanor died on July 17, 2007. Dutch was a past member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Pine Island. He enjoyed fishing, sports and card playing.
Dutch is survived by his daughter, Teresa (Robert) Borchert, of Faribault, MN; two sons: Brent (Myrna) Barth of Pine Island and Brian (Barbara) Barth of Cosa Grande, AZ; four grandchildren: Erin Borchert of Faribault, Ann Stahl of Kasson, Jennifer Barth of Zumbrota and Kristin (Chad) Glaze of Merrill, WI; three great grandchildren; one sister, Mavis Stewart of Elgin, MN. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor; his parents; one sister, Eileen Olson; one grandson, Robert Schuma.
Visitation will be from 9-11AM on Saturday, November 8, 2008 at the chapel in Pine Island.
