Frances L. Berning

Frances Lillian Berning, 84, of Red Wing, died Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at St. Brigid's at Hi-Park. She was born September 21, 1924 to Otto and Ethel (Bryngelson) Sirinek. She attended schools in Chetek, Wisconsin and later attended the Minnesota School of Business. She married Gerald Berning on June 25, 1941 in Chetek, Wisconsin. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, the Western Fraternal Association, the VFW Auxiliary and was involved in Girl Scouts. She sang in the church choir and several musical groups. She enjoyed music, flower gardening, and bird watching.

Frances is survived by her husband, Gerald; three daughters, Marilyn (Donald) Petersen of Salt Lake City, Utah, Cheryl (Harold) Puppe of Woodville, Wisconsin, and Sandra Fischer of Bowling Green, Ohio; two sons, Jerome (Betty) Berning of Decorah, Iowa, and Dana (Lou) Berning of Taylor Falls, Minnesota; six grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter, one granddaughter, two sisters, and son-in-law Todd Fischer.

In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Saint joseph Catholic Church or Fairview Ebenezer Deercrest Alzheimer's Unit.
