Forrest S. Herron

ROCHESTER - Forrest S. Herron, 97, of Rochester, died Wednesday (Jan. 11, 2012) at Golden Living Center Rochester West in Rochester.
Forrest Safely Herron was born on Aug. 30, 1914 in Coon Rapids, IA to Milton and Bertha (Johnson) Herron. He attended country school in Coon Rapids, IA. Forrest farmed and later worked as a foreman for the Green Thumb Project for the State of Minnesota. He resided in Claremont, Stewartville, and Rochester. Forrest married Eva Schlaak in Comfrey, MN in February 1945. She died in December 1973. He married Catherine Frank in June 1983 in Rochester; she survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Idelle (Terry) Manthei of Rochester; a step daughter, Mary Kay Tointon of North Fort Meyers Beach, FL; step sons, James Frank of Ellington, FL; and Robert Frank of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren, Rhonda (Bruce) Penning of Kiester, MN; Ranae (Randy Farris) Herron of Conger, MN; Craig Manthei of Stewartville, MN; and Jessica (Mike) Scott of Crosslake, MN; great grandchildren, Ashley, Carl, Amanda, Isaac, Kailyn, Abigail, Payton, and Lauren; and sister-in- law, Rose Frank of Sacramento, CA. His parents, son Curtis, four sisters, and six brothers, also preceded him in death.
The memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Mahn Family Funeral Home - Rochester Chapel, 1624 37 St. N.W., with Rev. Maurice E. Hagen officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester. Friends may call one hour before the service Saturday at the funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
