Florence Emily Sallstrom, 91, Red Wing, died Thursday at Fairview Seminary Home where she had been a resident since August 30th, 2007. She was born December 28, 1916 in Red Wing, the daughter of John and Emily (Peterson) Strusz. She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hay Creek. She attended schools in Featherstone Township and Red Wing. She married Maynard H. Rehder at Immanuel Lutheran on August 20, 1937. Together they farmed in Vasa until 1956 when Maynard died. She continued to farm with her sons until 1966. She married Marvin C. Sallsttrom on June 25, 1966 and they lived in West Allis, Wisconsin until retiring and moving back to Red Wing, residing in the Burnside area. Marvin died in 1977. She worked at Red Wing Pottery Sales. She celebrated her 91st birthday with friends and relatives at the Seminary Home. She was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church, she loved singing, flowers, plants, crafts, games, cards and spending time with friends.
Survivors include three children: Mike (Linda), John (Wanda) and Carole Rehder, all of Red Wing; one step-son, Dewey (Nancy) Sallstrom of Madison, Wisconsin; nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and four nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands, Maynard and Marvin, and two brothers, Clarence and Bill Strusz.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. John's Lutheran Church with Reverend Todd Engel officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Goodhue. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to the Parkinsons Foundation or donor's choice. Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel is handling arrangements.
