Florence Marie Fellenz, age 92 of Red Wing died on Saturday, January 17, 2009 at her residence in Red Wing, Minnesota.
Florence was born on July 29, 1916 in Mora, Minnesota to James and Amelia (Schwieman) Carney. She grew up and attended school in the Mora area. In 1940 she met and married Andrew Dalbotten, and together they owned and operated the Texaco Station on Main Street in Red Wing. After three years of ownership they sold the Texaco Station and bought the West End Liquor Store. Andrew died in 1960. In 1961 Florence married Ray Fellenz, and together they operated the liquor store until their retirement in 1976. Florence was a member of the Church of St. Joseph in Red Wing and volunteered for 27 years as a foster grandparent at the Minnesota Correctional Facility. She received many awards over the years but none made her more proud than when she received the Eleven Who Care Award in 1998 given by KARE 11 Television.
Florence is survived by her daughter Sharon Nelson and her husband Elwood of Red Wing and one sister Dorothy Zelinske of Kasson, Minnesota. She is also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Andrew Dalbotten and Ray Fellenz; daughter Jennifer Cushing; brothers Harry Carney and Edward Carney; and sister Marian Sigrist.
Visitation for Florence will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and for one hour prior to Mass at the church. Mass of Resurrection will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January, 21, 2009 at the Church of Saint Joseph in Red Wing with Father Thomas M. Kommers presiding. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Red Wing. Memorials are preferred to the church.
