Florence Jeanette Domagala, 98, of Red Wing, died Friday, December 25, 2020, at the Benedictine Living Community in Red Wing, where she has resided since March. She was born on November 23, 1922, in Bowman, North Dakota to Nels and Minnie (Hegge) Boxeth. She graduated from Bowman High School and then attended secretarial training school. On July 17, 1947, she was united in marriage to Bernard Domagala at the Bowman Lutheran Church. Five children were born to this union, Vaneta, Bernard James, Janice, Betty and Duane. They farmed for nine years in Bowman Township before moving to Red Wing in 1957. Her husband, Bernard died in 1961. Florence worked as a bookkeeper for 24 years at Ferrin’s Furniture Store. She was a member of United Lutheran Church where she was active in the church circles and the birthday club. She was proud of her Norwegian Heritage and was a member of the Sons of Norway and enjoyed her Norwegian delicacies. She sang over the years for many funerals and also in the church choir. She enjoyed baking and traveling visiting, Alaska, Hawaii and Norway and also going on many bus trips throughout the United States. Her family recalls many memories, but most of all is the love and kindness she provided for them and her many friends.
Florence is survived by her three daughters, Vaneta (Doug) Babcock of Broomfield, Colo., Janice (Lloyd) Johnson of LeRoy, Minn., and Betty (John) Jaeger of Red Wing; daughter-in-law, Sue Domagala of Red Wing; 11 grandchildren, Kaarin (Tim) Jacobson, Dave (Kisha) Babcock, RaeAnn (Ben) Hancock, Carolyn (Brandon) Vreeman, Brad (Maria) Johnson, Lori (Chris) Shepard, Beth (Jeff) Matthees, Nathan, (Joanna) Jaeger, Michael (Meagan) Jaeger, Patrick (Lara) Jaeger and Ben Domagala; 29 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one infant son, Bernard James; son, Duane and three brothers and one sister.
A private family service will be held at United Lutheran Church with Reverend Justin Boeding officiating. The service will be streamed live on the Mahn Family Funeral Home Facebook page at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 5, 2021. Burial will be at the Oakwood Cemetery. A public visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, January 4, 2021, at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel. Memorials are preferred to United Lutheran Church.
