A service in remembrance of the life of Florence Dingle will he held Friday February 28th at Resurrection Lutheran Church in Rochester. Visitation for Mrs. Dingle will occur from 3:00 to 3:30 PM, and the service will begin at 3:30 PM. The Rev. Stephen Meyer will officiate. Burial of the urn, at a later date, will occur at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Dexter, Michigan. Mrs. Dingle, 96, died Thursday February 20, 2020 at her Shorewood Commons home in Rochester.
Florence Ellen Altenbernt was born April 20, 1923 in Dexter, Michigan. Her parents, Frederick and Daisy (nee Edwards) Altenbernt farmed near Dexter, and Florence attended the Dexter public schools. She married Charles Miller in 1941. After his passing in 1969, Florence held various bookkeeping jobs and eventually became employed in the private sector for the United States Air Force. During her years as a budget analyst for the USAF she worked in such places as Clovis and Albuquerque, New Mexico, the Azores, the Philippines, and the Hawaiian Islands. She retired in 1988. In 1995, she married A. Nelson Dingle. He died 2011.
She enjoyed reading, painting, and traveling.
She is survived by her daughters, Carolyn Jensen of Rochester, Minnesota, T.J. (Myron) Fluegge of New Ulm, Minnesota, Deborah Miller (Paul Jones) of Wausau, Wisconsin, and Janet (Joel) Krafft of Greeley, Colorado; eight grandchildren, Stephanie Kinsey, Frederick Jensen III, Michele Ekstrom, Craig Fluegge, Matt Fluegge, Renee Giefer, Kristen Coffin, and Jessica Martinez; 19 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Kathryn Purdy and Gloria Altenbernt. In addition to her husbands, Florence was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
