Florence Eleanor Lillian Berg, age 91, of Welch, died Saturday, December 1, 2007, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. She was born on December 4, 1915, in Douglas Township, Dakota County, to Henry and Christine (Dahlstrom) Bodin. After attending District 139 Bloom School, she boarded in Cannon Falls to attend high school. She graduated early and went to teacher training in St. Cloud. She became a rural school teacher in Goodhue County, ending her teaching career at her home district. She married Stuart Berg on June 5, 1943, at Cannon River Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls. They farmed on the Berg farm in Welch since 1944. Stuart died on July 8, 2006. She was a member of Cross of Christ Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School and made quilts for her circle. She volunteered as a leader for Willing Welchers 4-H Club. As a member of the Goodhue County Historical Society, she documented the history of the rural schools. She enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include three children, Anita (James) Vadis of Tucson, Arizona, Lona (Dale) Froyum of Welch and Leonard (Sandi) Berg of Welch; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her husband; brother, Roy Bodin and sister, Esther Anderson.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church with a visitation one hour prior to the time of services. Visitation will be also from 5 � 7 p.m. Thursday at Cannon River Lutheran Church. Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel is handling arrangements.
