OBITUARY: FERNE A. HANMER A memorial service for Ferne A. Hanmer will be at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, February 15, 2006, at Madonna Towers Chapel in Rochester. Inurnment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to Madonna Towers Living Foundation. Mrs. Hanmer, age 89, of Rochester, MN, died on Tuesday, January 31, 2006 at Madonna Towers. She was born Ferne Anna Peck on May 8, 1916 in Park River, ND. She graduated from Walsh County High School, North Dakota and attended the University of North Dakota at Grand Forks. Ferne worked a short time in Seattle, WA and was married to William Benson ?Bud? Hanmer on July 20, 1942 in Fargo, ND. The couple lived in various areas of the country including Chicago, IL, Cincinnati, OH and in Hibbing, MN from 1951-2003. Bud died on June 5, 2000. Ferne entered Madonna Towers in 2003 to be closer to her daughter. She was active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Hibbing. She was a past member of the Order of Eastern Star. Ferne is survived by a daughter, Mary Jane (Peter) McHardy, of Rochester, MN; two sons: William B. ?Bill? (Patti) Hanmer, of Winchester, VA, Robert S. ?Bob? (Karen) Hanmer, of Glenview, IL; two sisters: Lillian Nystrom, of ID, and Agnes (Robert) Hjort, of OR; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
