Fern Dora Marie Ohlhaber

Fern Dora Marie Ohlhaber age 93 of Lake City passed away Thursday, August 26, 2010 at the Lake City Nursing Home.
Fern was born July 18, 1917 to Fred & Marie (Schlichting) Lutjen in Mount Pleasant Township. She attended District #28 School. She married Laroy Ohlhaber June 30, 1936 at Immanuel Lutheran Church of West Florence. They farmed in Mount Pleasant Township for all their lives. Laroy passed away in 1995. Fern lived on the farm until 2006 when she moved to Lake City. She was a lifetime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of West Florence. She belonged to Immanuel Ladies Aid, Friendly Neighbor Birthday Club and the Extension Group. Fern enjoyed sewing, gardening, raising chickens and ducks and spending time with her family and friends.
Fern is survived by two daughters, Marvel (Richard) Klein of Lake City, Lorie (Roger Sanders) Roschen of Lake City; three sons, Ian (Mary) Lutjen of Red Wing, Arlyn (Joy) Ohlhaber of Lake City, Bruce (Jody) Ohlhaber of Red Wing; 9 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; a sister, Anna Handeland of Annandale, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband; a son Larry, two sisters, Lucille Waldera, Bernice Lutjen; two brothers, Emery and Gernot Lutjen.
A Funeral Service will be held Monday, August 30, 2010 at Immanuel of West Florence Church at 11:00 AM with Rev Christopher Hoppe officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 5 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home Anderson-Peterson Chapel Lake City. Friends may also call one hour before the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to Immanuel Lutheran Church of West Florence or to donor's choice.
