Farryl Kay Owens, 64, of Red Wing, died Monday evening at St. Mary?s Hospital in Rochester. She was born on May 31, 1942 in St. James, Minnesota to Arol and Delores (Walrod) Shellum. She attended country school in Madelia and her family moved to Red Wing where she graduated from Red Wing Central High School in 1960. She and her sister then moved to California. There she met Louis Owens and they were married on September 14, 1963 in Alameda, California. After Louis was discharged from the US Navy in 1967, they moved back to Red Wing. Farryl and her twin sister, Cheryl owned and operated Deden?s Caf‚ in Goodhue for over 20 years, and she retired in 1998. She was a member of First Lutheran Church and the Leo C. Peterson American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed being with her family and grandchildren, giving ?free hugs? and going to the casino. Survivors include her husband, Louis; three children, Kim (Mark) Ramsbacher of Hastings, Jay (Stacy) Owens of Red Wing and Farra Owens of Red Wing; daughter-in-law, Krissy Owens of Red Wing, nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren; step-mother, Jeannette Shellum of Red Wing; twin sister, Cheryl (Don) Oliver of Red Wing; sister, Jill (Danny) Johnson of Red Wing, brother, Scott (Karleen) Shellum of Red Wing and step-brother, Larry (Colleen) DeWall of Dennison and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Kevin, and infant son, Jeffrey; two step-brothers, Duane and Lynel DeWall and one step-sister Judy Larson. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at First Lutheran Church with Rev. Glen Bickford officiating. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Travis and Marcus Ramsbacher, Bryan, Dave and Justin Bolland and Nathan Bremer. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Funeral arrangements are by the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel.
