Everett Waleski

Everett Leroy Waleski, 84, died Monday, July 9, 2007 at Fairview Seminary Home in Red Wing. He was born May 27, 1923 in Grand Rapids, Minnesota to Joseph and Theodore (Cieminski) Waleski. He attended school in Grand Rapids before entering the Army in 1943. He served in the 27th Combat Engineers until being honorably discharged in 1946. He participated in the New Guinea, South Philippines Liberation, and Luzon campaigns. On April 18, 1953, he married Mavis Black in Grand Rapids. He worked at Blandin Paper Co. and the Joyce Estate before moving to Red Wing in 1958. He retired from ADM Milling in 1981 and worked a short time at the Red Wing Pottery Mall. A member of the First Presbyterian Church, he enjoyed fishing, playing cards, bowling, and telling his "Grandpa jokes".

Survivors include his wife, Mavis of Red Wing; three children, Lynn (David) Jensen of El Paso, Wisconsin, Alan of Hastings, and Paul of Red Wing; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, Joseph (Ruth) Waleski and Roger Waleski and one sister Beverly (William) Baker all of Grand Rapids. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church with Reverend Gary Elg officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at a later date. Urn bearer will be David Jensen. Honorary pallbearers will be Trapper Waleski, Andrea Jensen, Kristine Jensen, Amanda Waleski and Jordan Waleski. Memorials are preferred to the church or Fairview Red Wing Hospice. Arrangements by Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel.
