ROCHESTER � A memorial service for Everett O. Luhmann will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Mahn Family Funeral Home � Rochester Chapel. Burial will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date.
Mr. Luhmann, 85, a retired loan officer, died Saturday (Jan. 19, 2008) at St. Mary's Hospital.
Born Apr. 18, 1922 in Stockton, MN he was raised there and graduated from High School in Winona. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1940 to 1946 in the Pacific and Mediterranean theaters. After his discharge he attended Northwestern University in Evanston, IL and St. Mary's College in Winona. He then served as a loan officer in Bemidji, MN before moving to Minneapolis in 1950 where he worked for Marquette Bank as a loan officer. On Apr. 17, 1950 he married Doris Bauman in Hines, MN. The couple moved to Rochester in 1957 where he was a loan officer for Phoenix Loan. In 1968 he became a Vice-President for Federal Discount Corporation. In 1979 he joined the IBM Federal Credit Union and served as a loan officer until retiring in 1987. He was a member of Zumbro Lutheran Church, the Minnesota Geological Society, and was formerly active in Toastmasters and the Boy Scouts. He enjoyed geology and travelling the world.
Survivors include his wife, two sons, Ronald of Anoka, MN; and Lanny of Minneapolis; three grandchildren, Christy, Ross, and Allison; four sisters, Gladys Luhmann of Winona; Phyllis Mullen of Minneapolis; Iris Hanson of Peru, IN; and Audrey (Ron) Helstad of La Crescent, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, one brother, and one sister.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to a charity of the Donor's choice.
