Evelyn G. Thompson age 79, of Zumbrota died suddenly on Friday, January 16, 2009 at her home in Zumbrota. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, January 22, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Minneola Lutheran Church in rural Zumbrota with Reverend Sarah Nietz officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, January 21, 2009 from 4:00 � 7:00 PM at the Mahn Family Funeral Home � Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and on Thursday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Evelyn Gloria Irene Husbyn was born on March 10, 1929 in Minneola Township, Goodhue County, MN to Emil and Ida (nee Ulstad) Husbyn. She grew up on the family farm and attended country school. In 1947 she graduated from Zumbrota High School. On January 17, 1948 she married Stanley "Tat" Thompson in Zumbrota. They made their home in Zumbrota and Evie was the bookkeeper and co-owner for the Gas Station and the Bar and Pool Hall that Tat and Evie owned. She worked as a waitress for many different restaurants in the Zumbrota area, gave her neighbor ladies permanents and was the caregiver for many elderly relatives. Evelyn was an active member of Minneola Lutheran Church, where she served in WELCA and the quilting group. She loved to play euchre, bowling, her pool league and bingo.
Evelyn is survived by one son, Thomas (Cynthia) Thompson of Zumbrota, two daughters, Sandra (Michael) Nord of Zumbrota and Terry (Robert) Erredge of Zumbrota, nine grandchildren, Troy (fiancée Kayla Rabehl) Ness, Tonya Loken, Shawn Thompson, Tara (Michael) Plank, Michael and Adam Nord, Tomine, Tat and Robert Erredge, eight great grandchildren, Ben, Sam and Eli Loken, Sawyer Jacobson, Ethan Thompson, Emma and Abby Plank and Tate Ness, two brothers, Peder Husbyn of Goodhue and Edwin Husbyn of Zumbrota. Evie was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley "Tat", son, Steven, and one sister, Gladys Steege.
Casketbearers are her grandchildren and honorary casketbearers are her great grandchildren.
