Evelyn Rose Gustafson Larson

Evelyn Rose Gustafson Larson, 100, of Red Wing, died Monday, June 26, 2017 at Valentine's Assisted Living. She was born August 31, 1916, in Frederic, Wisconsin to Frank and Rosa (Johnson) Zahn. After graduation, she moved to Red Wing and married Vernon Gustafson on May 8, 1941. They had two daughters Carol and Pat. Vernon died in November 1959. Evelyn later married Paul D. Larson on March 11, 1967, and after many happy years together he died in July 1996.
Evelyn was employed at the Ben Franklin in Red Wing, Hallmark Party Shop in Duluth, and Spurgeons in Red Wing. She was a member of First Lutheran Church and taught Sunday school for several years. She enjoyed gardening, doing word finds, collecting teddy bears and spending time with her family. In August of 2000, Evelyn moved to Loving Residence and later Valentine's Assisted Living. While living there the staff gave her excellent care, friendship and love.
Evelyn Is survived by two daughters, Carol Hansen of St. Paul and Pat (Eddy) Tri of Red Wing; one grandson, Travis Hansen; three great grandsons, Austin and Alex Tri and Tyler Bath; one great granddaughter, Anna Tri; one step son, Jerry Larson; one step daughter, La Von (Tom) Carroll; and one step-daughter- in-law Della Larson; several step-grandchildren; several step-great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Betty Lampman Ivie; two brothers, Bud and Raymond Zahn; her two husbands; son in law, Larry Hansen; grandson, Erik Tri; stepson, John Larson; step daughter-in-law, Janice Larson; step-grandson, Jason Carroll and step great grandson, Michael Larson.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday, June 29, 2017, at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with Reverend Amy Fondroy Eich officiating. Burial will be at the Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Red Wing Mayo Hospice.
